At this time of year your heating system is becoming a necessity rather than a luxury, so how effective and efficient is your heating system, in simple terms :-
by effective we mean, are all rooms and areas of the building warm ?
by efficient we mean, how much energy does your heating system use, compared to what it should be using ?
Other factors to think about are how old is your heating system and how reliable is the heating system, for example do parts of the heating system stop working, do radiators have uneven temperatures across their surface, does the boiler have many breakdown repairs each year.
If you are thinking about just replacing your boiler, is that it ? or does all of the heating system need an overhaul ?
CIBSE Guide M (*): contains tables of heating equipment economic life factors and end of economic life expectations, the tables where compiled following cross industry collaboration with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Building Services Engineering Association (BESA), so this gives Domestic & Non-Domestic heating system owners an expectation of when they should give consideration to replacing all or part of their heating system.
We at Azimuth MEP Consulting Ltd., are an independent Consulting Engineering Practice, we are not affiliated to any particular Supplier or Contractor, so our advice is impartial.
We can carry out a survey of your heating system, to advise upon condition, repairs, upgrades or resolve deficiencies in your heating system, whether it be a House, Apartment, Hotel, Office, Shop, Warehouse or Factory, please call 0333 3355 107 to discuss your requirements or complete the Start your Project form on our website (Click here).
What to expect from a Survey
For an agreed fee a Professionally qualified Engineer, would carry out a visual survey of your heating system, normally starting with the Boiler, followed by radiators, pipework and controls system.
During the Survey we would enquire whether there are any problems with the heating system and review the Service history.
Following the Survey, you would receive an Email copy of our report, which would use the CIBSE Guide M (*) as the basis of our life expectancy observations and include any recommendations, regarding repairs, replacement and improvements.
